The rounded cap of the walnut bar shows the interlocked grain curving tightly around the dome — a small amount of material doing a lot of visual work at the top of the lamp.

Light slot carved into the arc

At the top of the ash version, the diffuser slot curves into the rounded end cap following the profile of the wood — the light begins and ends within the shape of the bar, never spilling past it.
